Our Warranty Promise: MCTech Computers stands behind every product we sell. We provide comprehensive warranty support in accordance with manufacturer terms and Sri Lankan consumer protection laws.

1. Types of Warranty Coverage

Manufacturer Warranty

All new products come with the original manufacturer warranty. We serve as your local warranty support center and facilitate all warranty claims with manufacturers.

MCTech Service Warranty

For products assembled, repaired, or serviced by our technicians, we provide additional service warranty covering our workmanship and parts used.

Extended Warranty Options

We offer extended warranty plans for additional coverage beyond the manufacturer warranty period.

3. What's Covered Under Warranty

  • Manufacturing Defects: Faulty components or assembly from the factory
  • Component Failures: Normal component failures within warranty period
  • Software Issues: Pre-installed software problems (limited coverage)
  • Performance Issues: Products not meeting published specifications
  • Early Failures: Products failing within first 30 days (DOA - Dead on Arrival)

4. What's NOT Covered Under Warranty

  • Physical Damage: Drops, spills, impacts, or mishandling
  • Liquid Damage: Water, coffee, or other liquid spills
  • Overclocking Damage: Damage from overclocking beyond specifications
  • Power Surge Damage: Damage from electrical surges or improper power
  • Normal Wear and Tear: Expected degradation over time
  • Software Issues: Virus infections, software corruption, user-installed software problems
  • Cosmetic Damage: Scratches, dents that don't affect functionality
  • Unauthorized Repairs: Damage from third-party repair attempts
  • Environmental Damage: Extreme temperatures, humidity, dust

5. Warranty Claim Process

Step 1: Initial Contact

Contact our warranty department with product details and description of the issue:

Step 2: Documentation Required

  • Original purchase receipt or invoice
  • Warranty card (if applicable)
  • Product serial number
  • Detailed description of the problem
  • Photos/videos of the issue (if applicable)

Step 3: Initial Diagnosis

Our technicians will perform initial diagnosis to determine if the issue is covered under warranty.

Step 4: Warranty Approval

If covered, we will approve the warranty claim and proceed with repair/replacement. If not covered, we will provide repair cost estimate.

Step 5: Repair or Replacement

Depending on the issue, we will either repair the product or provide a replacement unit.

Step 6: Quality Testing

All repaired products undergo thorough testing before return to customer.

6. Warranty Service Options

On-Site Service (Available for certain products)

  • Desktop computers and servers
  • Network equipment installations
  • Available within Colombo area
  • Service charges may apply for travel

Carry-In Service

  • Customer brings product to our service center
  • Most common service method
  • Faster turnaround time
  • No additional service charges

Mail-In Service

  • For customers outside Colombo area
  • We provide shipping labels for warranty items
  • Secure packaging required
  • Insurance included

7. Warranty Service Timeline

  • Diagnosis: 1-2 business days
  • Parts Ordering: 3-7 business days (if required)
  • Repair Time: 2-5 business days
  • Total Service Time: 5-14 business days typical
  • Express Service: Available for additional fee

8. Replacement Policy

  • Dead on Arrival (DOA): Immediate replacement within 7 days
  • Multiple Failures: Replacement after 3 repair attempts for same issue
  • Unrepairable Items: Direct replacement when repair is not feasible
  • Refurbished Replacements: May be provided for older products

9. Extended Warranty Plans

MCTech Care Plan

  • Extends manufacturer warranty by 1-2 years
  • Includes accidental damage protection
  • Priority service and support
  • Annual preventive maintenance

Business Protection Plan

  • Designed for business customers
  • On-site service included
  • Next business day service guarantee
  • Loaner equipment available

10. International Warranty

  • Global warranty available for select brands
  • Proof of purchase from MCTech required
  • Customer responsible for shipping to/from Sri Lanka
  • Local warranty processing preferred

11. Warranty Transfer

  • Warranty can be transferred to new owner
  • Transfer request must be submitted in writing
  • Original purchase documentation required
  • Transfer fee may apply

12. Data Protection During Service

  • Customer responsible for backing up data before service
  • MCTech not responsible for data loss during repair
  • Hard drives may be replaced without data recovery
  • Data recovery services available separately

13. Consumer Rights

Under Sri Lankan consumer protection laws, you have additional rights beyond manufacturer warranty:

  • Right to goods of acceptable quality
  • Right to repair, replacement, or refund for major failures
  • Right to compensation for damages and losses
  • Warranty does not limit your statutory rights

15. Warranty Fraud Prevention
